A Day in Rotterdam

Rotterdam is the second largest city in Holland. Due to the heavy bombing of the city during the Second World War, Rotterdam is a very modern city with a lot of contemporary architecture. Therefore, Rotterdam has a very different atmosphere compared to Amsterdam, Utrecht and other historical towns in Holland. The city is very spacious and modern, nothing like the picturesque, small canals and winding streets of Holland’s capital. However, this also means that there are less tourists than in Amsterdam. This gives you the opportunity to wander through the city among the locals and discover all the places they visit.

Rotterdam is best known for is its harbour, which was one of the largest harbours in the world for a long time, and plays a huge part still today. Every day, large seacrafts come in to provide the rest of Europe with any produce they might need. Even though this is a large part of the city’s identity, it is also known for its large collection of modern art. The Kunsthal and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen are located next to each other and offer their visitors impressive exhibitions. Click on the button below to purchase all your tickets for Rotterdam!
