The Fairytale Theme Park in the Netherlands
The Efteling, the oldest still existing amusement park in the world! A fairytale park with thrilling rollercoasters and other attractions. Besides this theme park being the oldest, it is also the largest theme park in square meters and number of visitors of the Benelux (Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands).
31 May 1952 was a joyous day: Efteling officially opened its doors. During the following decades the erstwhile Fairytale Forest grew into a giant World of Wonders. Anton Pieck especially helped to create the enchanting atmosphere which characterises Efteling, and which continues to be cherished and guarded to this day.
In the Netherlands, Efteling is often called the ‘Keeper of fairytales’. After all, many fairytales come together in Efteling. The Fairytale Forest is the heart of Efteling; it is the place where fairytales have been coming alive for almost 65 years. In 1952 Efteling started with ten fairytales, and in the meantime there are 29 already!

The Efteling aims to make as much rollercoasters accessible for visitors in wheelchairs. Therefore almost all attractions have a separate entrance for visitors in wheelchairs. However, some attractions can better be avoided because they trigger a multiplicity of senses. For people with a mental disorder this can sometimes cause them to startle. Also some of the rollercoasters have restrictions for people with heart conditions or pregnant women. For this reason you will find an overview with access restrictions at the entrance of each attraction.
In front of the main entrance to the park you will find a large parking lot that always offers enough space for all visitors. You can buy a parking ticket inside the Efteling for €10,- for a full day.
