The Maritime Museum Rotterdam (‘Maritiem Museum Rotterdam’ in Dutch) is located in the oldest and largest museum harbour of the Netherlands and can be found in the heart of Rotterdam. Here you can admire historic ships and cranes and even go on board. And experience how the world’s leading port of Rotterdam began. Visit the various great exhibitions such as the Offshore Experience, where you will go on a challenging search for energy from oil, gas and wind. In other words, it is like you’re on a drilling platform yourself! This interactive experience is informative and fun! Furthermore, in the exhibition ‘Masterpieces’ the Maritime Museum is showcasing twenty-five unique objects from its centuries-old collection, which will make your jaw drop. As a result, it is a great place to get soaked in maritime history and culture.
Activities for every age
In the exhibition ‘Drugs Dealing’ (14+) you are in the lead and you experience the tough and elusive world of drug trafficking in the port of Rotterdam. For the children Maritime Museum Rotterdam has a great exhibition called ‘Professor Splash’, where they can join exciting adventures in the wonderful world of Professor Splash and his friends. Kids are welcome to step aboard on the ships, and feel like captains themselves! All in all, a perfect family attraction in the heart of Rotterdam.
